Day 30 – Sunsets and sunrises

Twice a day our crews are given the best seats in the house to some of the most beautiful shows around. Sunsets and sunrises are fully immersive experiences on the ocean with a 360° view of the sky. Dawn starts a long time before the sun rises. The sky will start to get lighter at least a couple of hours before the sun actually climbs above the horizon and real darkness won’t happen completely until a few hours after the sun drops over the horizon.

Clouds do offer benefit to the vista making a really beautiful sunset or sunrise as they help refract the light in a way which generates more colours and adds a touch of scale to the view. The picture above really doesn’t do justice to the full scale show which is not only in front and to the side but also above and behind you. It’s really special when the sea is flatter and sea reflects the colours of the sky.

Progress today has been a few miles off the top end progress made yesterday but it’s all still good and in the right direction.
